Street markets have a long history in London life but their existence is transitory each time lasting only a few hours. They inhabit the space around us surrounding us yet they are gone just as quickly as they appear leaving no trace behind. As before the day begins at sunrise and space has been claimed. From the deep dark depths of the boxes one by one items are removed and brought together and assembled. Nothing is arbitrary every item has been carefully chosen and its position determined. It is the work of the unknown artists creating these installation pieces with us as the participant evoking memories. The constructed work is all at once beautiful and banal, balanced yet chaotic, random yet specific, meaningless and profound. They are fleeting reflections of the world we live in bringing new life and meaning to old objects and history. ephemera are the captured images of these transient moments no longer in existence.
